The Non-Conformist Emancipation is a collection of poems for those who have felt demonised in society. Conflicted by the fickle and ever-changing fly-by trends that society loves to enforce upon people. This is a liberating detox from the hegemony that is enriched upon our society that contradicts what it means to be “Free” in a Eurocentric world. On the American Theatre Arts course,I had the pleasure of delving into psychoanalytic theory.  Delving into the practises of Sigmund Frued,Jacques Lacan,Frantz Fanon and Friedrich Nietzsche. It was not only a fascinating way for me to analyse the characters I portrayed on stage with great vigour, it was also a fascinating way for me to delve into the human condition,whilst developing compassion from an objective viewpoint.

Set in Philadelphia in 2010 & 2019, we explore the life of Devonte Anderson, an emerging actor and graduate of U-Arts. Growing up in the dangerous North East side of Philadelphia,Devonte was not brought up with a silver spoon in his mouth, often going down a dark and dangerous path of drugs. At the age of 16 he had an overdose with his future prospects in jeopardy. This isn't until Great Uncle Franklin. a biologically immortal and pivotal fixture in the Anderson family tree pops into Devonte subconsciousness. Life seems to be going well for Devonte,he has his acting prospects in sight when a sudden and devestating colon cancer diagnosis stops him in his tracks. He is given 6-12 weeks to live. Once Devonte breaks the news to Claire,his girlfriend, she uses the power of her Youtube channel to create a fundraiser page. Devonte has a bucket list to travel the world but his condition worsens. Does Devonte try to make the most of his final moments on Earth or does he go back to square one, a life of drugs and uncertainty?
